Shackles was a fun read, and a good exposure of what kind of abuse can be done when religion is used as a tool for power.
KarenAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1293492602513569232.post-52918063428477318432011-07-21T17:57:37.896-07:002011-07-21T17:57:37.896-07:00As long as people allow themselves to accept one f...As long as people allow themselves to accept one fantasy, god, it is no problem accepting any number of additional ones, angels, golden streets, perfect bodies, loved ones united (with which spouse?), and, of course Satan and devils. The motivation for accepting these fantasies is that it allows people to not take responsibility for themselves and their own actions. "The devil made me do it, and so god will absolve me of any responsibility if I only pray." Combine this with mob mentality and the result is the worst depravity of which humans are capable, all while smiling a sanctimonious smile.Enoch Shermanhttp://enochsherman.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1293492602513569232.post-53313944804571273052011-07-20T11:27:44.267-07:002011-07-20T11:27:44.267-07:00What an amazing story about the gullibility of the...What an amazing story about the gullibility of the religious. It should surprise no one. When 85% of Christians are "converted" between the age of 4 and 14, and taught that supernatural occurrences of all kinds happen and are real, what else should anyone expect? The religion game snaps up its victims before they can think critically, then makes sure they don't learn to do so. Thanks for your clear exposition of the evidence of just one way in which people are harmed and made more credulous by religion.

And it's also a fascinating background for the writing of one seriously scary novel. When you're done with Shackled, you might want to rent "Rosemary's Baby" for comic relief! Nobody knows how to scare you (in a good way) than Ray Garton.Steven Spruillhttp://web.me.com/stevenspruillnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1293492602513569232.post-28590775432539494202011-07-19T21:16:53.193-07:002011-07-19T21:16:53.193-07:00Shackled gave me the creeps, Ray, no question.
